The Vanuatu Daily Post (VDP 18, 25 Feb 2010) : In response, a government official pointed out that since Vanuatu had formal diplomatic relations with Indonesia, it had in effect accepted Indonesian sovereignty over West Papua. Vanuatu had the right to express concerns about human rights violations and other issues, but questioning the sovereignty of West Papua would be interpreted as interfering in the internal affairs of Indonesia.
